Who we are

The Eastern Festival of Music is a summer music festival in Greensboro, North Carolina, presenting a five-week season of orchestral and chamber concerts alongside intensive training for young musicians aged 14 to 24. It was founded in 2025 and continues on the concept that Sheldon Morgenstern established on the Guilford College campus in 1961. The inaugural season in 2026 was a resounding success. Gerard Schwarz, esteemed conductor and pedagogue, has agreed to work as EFM’s music director with a contract to 2030.
