CELEBRATING A SUMMER OF INSPIRED MUSIC MAKING
June 26 - August 1, 2027
Applications open October 2026
NORTH CAROLINA'S MUSICAL TREASURE
The Eastern Festival of Music brings together exceptional classical performances and an inspiring summer educational program, celebrating the joy of making music and the shared pleasures of experiencing it live.
On the scenic campus of Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina, distinguished artist-faculty and talented young musicians gather for five weeks of discovery, collaboration, and performance. In the acoustical gem of Dana Auditorium, they share the beauty and excitement of live music with audiences, creating moments that resonate long after the final note.
From June 26 through August 1, students from around the world receive private instruction and take part in orchestral performances, chamber music, and master classes. Along the way, they grow as musicians, find inspiration in one another, and form friendships that extend far beyond the summer.
We invite you to apply and join us for a summer of artistry, discovery, and the joy of making music together.

A note from Gerard Schwarz, Music Director
The summer of 2026 began a new era for our treasured music festival and school in Greensboro, North Carolina.
For the past twenty years, I have been Music Director of the Eastern Music Festival. With the dissolution of our beloved festival, a new group of leaders have taken up the mantle of the remarkable and highly successful school and festival so classical music can once again thrive in Greensboro.
The newly named Eastern Festival of Music was a resounding success for its inaugural 2026 season, at our long- standing home at Guilford College. I am so thrilled that a group of artistically motivated supporters, most of whom have been involved with the festival since its inception, will be leading us into the future with continued artistic integrity and a deep commitment to music education. For those who have experienced the festival in years past, it will seem like music as it has always been here in Greensboro with our new EFM!
