The Eastern Festival of Music school offers a demanding, joyful five‑week curriculum built around three orchestra programs. Renowned conductors and coaches lead students through the major orchestral repertoire, and chamber music sits at the center of the experience. There are faculty concerts twice weekly, student ensemble recitals, weekly piano performances, and special concerts all summer long.
Student Programs
Orchestral Program
Two Young Artists orchestras performing weekly, full-length ticketed concerts, plus chamber music, private study, and master classes.
ExplorePiano Academy
An intensive five-week program for advanced pianists: private lessons, masterclasses, chamber ensembles, and regular performances.
ExplorePre-Professional Programs
Conducting Institute
Nine fellows rotate through assistant positions with the Festival and Young Artists orchestras, with weekly podium time and two public performances.
ExploreFellowships
Paid positions performing with the professional Eastern Festival Orchestra: strings, winds, brass, percussion, and collaborative piano.
ExploreEFM fields three orchestras each summer: two Young Artists orchestras and the professional Eastern Festival Orchestra. The Young Artists orchestras perform full-length, ticketed concerts every week under conductors Gerard Schwarz , José-Luis Novo , and Grant Cooper , and select students also perform with the Festival Orchestra.
Students rehearse six days a week on repertoire designed to stretch their artistic and technical limits, and a weekly seat rotation lets every player experience different orchestral roles, building deeper and more versatile musicianship. The summer also includes chamber music, private study, master classes, and seminars and workshops.
