Mark Teplitsky

Mark Teplitsky was most recently appointed Assistant Principal Flute of the Naples Philharmonic in 2024. Prior to that, Mark served for two years as Acting Second Flute with the Houston Symphony and six years as Principal Flute with the San Antonio Symphony. A graduate of Rice University in 2016 and the Colburn School of Music in 2014, Mark has performed with some of the most prominent orchestras across the country including as Principal Flute of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, and Sarasota Opera. As a section and piccolo player, Mark has appeared with the New York Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Florida Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, and the South Dakota Symphony. 


Passionate about chamber music, Mark was appointed Artistic Director of the Olmos Ensemble in San Antonio, Texas, a position he has now held for six seasons. Currently in its 32nd season, the Olmos Ensemble presents its audiences with music ranging from Baroque Concerti to commissioned works by living composers. During Mark’s tenure as AD, the Alamo City series grew considerably with high level artists such as Jeffrey Kahane, Jeannette Sorrell, Jon Kimura Parker, Jon Nakamatsu, and Vadim Gluzman coming to perform. Most recently, Mark curated and oversaw the creation of Olmos Ensemble’s CD recording project, capturing rarely performed or unrecorded repertoire under Inversion 6’s American branch, Divine Art Recording Label.


As a soloist, Mark has performed Concerti by Mozart, Reinecke, Bach, Vivaldi, Doppler, Boulez, Ibert and Chaminade throughout the states. In the summers, Mark has appeared as a guest musician for organizations such as CactusPear Music Festival, Central City Opera, and La Jolla Music Society. Mark can be heard playing on four CD’s: Houston Symphony’s Tchaikovsky Symphony 4, Fort Worth Symphony’s Symphonic Canvas, Sasha Cooke’s If You Love for Beauty and the Music Academy of the West’s 2015 Festival Highlights. Married to a Piccolist, Mark and his wife, Liz, have arranged a popular collection of flute duets that have sold across 40 countries. A Haynes Artist, Mark plays on a solid 14k gold Haynes flute with a 19.5k gold headjoint.
