Jenny Gregoire
Violinist Jenny Grégoire serves as Associate Professor of Violin and String Area Coordinator at the University of Alabama. A native of Québec, Canada, she received her early musical training at the Québec Music Conservatoire, studying with Jean Angers and Liliane Garnier-LeSage. There, she completed undergraduate and graduate degrees in violin performance, with additional study in chamber music. She continued her education at Northwestern University, earning a master’s degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy under Dr. Myron Kartman.
Ms. Grégoire spent two seasons as a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, performing under the direction of distinguished conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Neeme Järvi, Mstislav Rostropovich, Pierre Boulez, and Cliff Colnot. She later joined the New World Symphony in Miami for a season under Michael Tilson Thomas. Since 2001, she has served as concertmaster of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and is widely recognized throughout the Southeast, also holding concertmaster positions with the Meridian, North Mississippi, and Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestras.
Alongside her orchestral work, Ms. Grégoire maintains an active career as a soloist and recitalist. She has appeared multiple times as soloist with the Mobile Symphony and Meridian Symphony Orchestra, and in May 2019 performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Adam Flatt. In February 2024, she was featured with the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra in Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, conducted by Maestro Steven Byess. Her recital and chamber music performances have taken her across the United States and internationally to Brazil, Canada, and Portugal. She is also a member of the Eastern Festival of Music faculty, where she serves as Assistant Principal Second Violin in the faculty orchestra under Maestro Gerard Schwarz.
