Gerard Schwarz,

NORTH CAROLINA'S MUSICAL TREASURE
The Eastern Festival of Music combines great classical music-making with a summer educational program enriched with incredible faculty and young artists.
Its distinguished artists come to the scenic campus of Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina to immerse themselves in teaching outstanding students and performing to large audiences at the acoustical gem of Dana Auditorium.
The school and festival lasts five weeks from June 27 - August 1.
The students, ages 14-24, receive private instruction and participate in orchestral performances, chamber music, and master classes during the five weeks they are in residence. Students come from around the globe to have an enriching experience, musically and socially.
We encourage you to apply and join us for a summer of artistry, collaboration, and lifelong friendships.

A note from Gerard Schwarz,
Music Director
The summer of 2026 will begin a new era for our treasured music festival and school in Greensboro, North Carolina.
For the past twenty years, I have been Music Director of the Eastern Music Festival. With the dissolution of our beloved festival, a new group of leaders have taken up the mantle of the remarkable and highly successful school and festival so classical music can once again thrive in Greensboro.
The newly named Eastern Festival of Music will have its inaugural season this summer, 2026, at our long- standing home at Guilford College. I am so thrilled that a group of artistically motivated supporters, most of whom have been involved with the festival since its inception, will be leading us into the future with continued artistic integrity and a deep commitment to music education. For those who have experienced the festival in years past, it will seem like music as it has always been here in Greensboro with our new EFM!
